    01 — Everything a teacher needs

Nine tools that behave like the commercial suites.

No subscription, no cloud account, and no student data leaving the building. Everything below runs between your teacher PC and the machines in the room.

    teach mode

    Broadcast your screen

Share your desktop with every approved student at up to 10 FPS. JPEG quality is adjustable in Settings. One click starts it, one click ends it.

    remote control

    Drive any student PC

Full mouse, scroll and keyboard control at 15 FPS. The student always sees a translucent orange banner while you are connected — it cannot be hidden.

    screen lock

Freeze one PC or the room

A branded full-screen overlay blocks all input until you unlock. Use it to pull attention back during an explanation, or to end the lesson cleanly.

    live monitor

    Thumbnail previews

Turn on a 3 FPS preview for any station and watch it from the teacher card. Spot off-task work without walking the aisles.

    student share

    Let a student present

Grant permission and their share button unlocks. The whole class gets a floating viewer window until you stop the share.

    file transfer

    Send files to the class

Any file, sent in 64 KB chunks with a progress bar on each student card. Files land in ~/Downloads/ClassFiles automatically.

    shutdown

    Power down the lab

Shut down one machine or all of them with a 10-second warning shown on each screen. Works the same on Windows and Ubuntu.

    chat

    Broadcast and private chat

Type once to reach the room, or open a one-to-one thread from a student card. Messages stay on your LAN and are never uploaded.

    bulk actions

    One-press room commands

Lock all, unlock all, shut down all, stop student share. Each is a single toolbar button — no menus, no per-machine clicking.

02 — Get running in minutes

Pick your operating system for the exact steps.

LabWarden ships as a self-contained folder. There is no installer, no registry work and no Python needed on the machines you deploy to.

Windows — teacher and student PCs

    Download the .exe
    1. 1

Copy the server folder to the teacher PC

Put LabWarden_Server\ anywhere you like — C:\LabWarden\ is a good default. Administrator rights are not required.

    2. 2

Open port 8765 in Windows Firewall

Run this once in an elevated Command Prompt.

      netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="LabWarden" dir=in action=allow protocol=TCP localport=8765
    3. 3

      Start the server

Double-click LabWarden_Server.exe. The first launch begins the 30-day demo with four seats — no licence file needed.

    4. 4

Copy the client folder to each student PC

Point every client at the teacher machine's LAN address.

      LabWarden_Client.exe --server 192.168.1.10 --port 8765
    03 — Free 30-day demo

    Every feature. Zero commitment.

The server starts fully unlocked on first launch. No signup, no licence file, no telemetry. The first four student machines are always free — when a fifth tries to connect, the server shows an upgrade prompt instead of cutting you off mid-lesson.

    05 — Anti-piracy

    Seven layers of real protection.

Each licence is RSA-2048 signed, hardware-locked, HMAC-integrity-checked, and re-verified every 30 minutes at runtime. Deleting demo state files does not reset the timer.

    RSA

    2048-bit digital signature

Every .lic file is signed with our private key. Editing seat count or expiry breaks it instantly.

    HW

    Hardware fingerprint lock

MAC + CPU + motherboard UUID. Copying the licence to a different PC fails the machine-ID check.

    HMAC

    Demo state integrity

State file is HMAC-SHA256 signed with a machine-derived key that never touches disk.

    ⏱

    Clock-rollback detection

Setting the system clock back triggers instant expiry — last-seen date is compared each launch.

    30′

    Runtime re-verification

A background timer re-checks the licence every 30 minutes. Patching startup checks isn't enough.

    06 — Frequently asked

    Common questions, honest answers.

Does the demo really run for thirty days with everything unlocked?
Yes. The server starts fully featured on first launch — no licence file and no card details. The only limit is the seat count: four clients. A fifth connection is refused and the server shows an upgrade prompt.
What happens if someone deletes the demo state file?
Nothing useful. A separate HMAC-signed sentinel file records the original first-run date. Deleting the main state file simply causes the sentinel to restore it, so the trial continues from where it was.
Does remote control work on Ubuntu?
Yes, but the student must log in with the Ubuntu on Xorg session (selectable at the login screen). Wayland — the default on 21.10+ — blocks programmatic mouse and keyboard injection by design.
Is any student data sent to the cloud?
No. LabWarden.Pro is 100% LAN-only. There is no cloud, no telemetry and no analytics. Chat, screen frames and file transfers all stay inside your school network.
Can I move my licence to a new server PC?
Yes. Send us your old Machine ID, your new Machine ID and your purchase receipt. We reissue a new .lic file within one business day. One free transfer per licence period.
Do you accept purchase orders from schools and government?
Yes. We accept POs, bank transfers (NEFT / IMPS / UPI), cheques, demand drafts and online payment. A GST invoice is provided for every commercial order.
Can students see when they are being monitored or controlled?
Screen monitoring (thumbnail preview) is silent by design. Remote desktop control always shows a translucent orange REMOTE CONTROL ACTIVE banner on the student's screen — this cannot be hidden. Screen locks show a full-screen branded overlay.
